Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy helps you understand and change your negative patterns known as “schemas” or “life traps”, which typically originate early in life and dictate how you live your life. This therapy can be effective even when other methods you have tried before have been unsuccessful. It uses techniques such as guided imagery and modeling how your needs could be met in a healthy way to help you become aware of how to spot them when they are operating in your day-to-day life. It enables you to replace negative habitual thoughts and behaviours with healthy and more adaptive ones.
Schema Therapy can help people with:
- chronic personal difficulties (self-destructive behaviours – e.g. jealousy, low self esteem, self-harm)
- long-term couples problems
- relationship difficulties
- personality disorders
- chronic depression
- eating disorders
- substance abuse (alcohol and drugs)
