Persevere – Life during coronavirus – How to stay physically relaxed

STEPS:
1. Understand
2. Prepare
3. Engage
4. Persevere

D. STAY PHYSICALLY RELAXED

When we get stressed our body may become tense. It can help to try a simple relaxation technique using our toes to release the tension. We can apply this technique when we feel stressed and we may repeat it as many times as we wish until we feel the tension leaving our body.

It’s important not to monitor whether or not it’s working because that can interfere with the relaxation effect. The only thing we need to do is just keep going with it.

Here’s how:

Toes Exercise
  • Sit comfortably upright in a chair or lie on your bed if you prefer
  • Close your eyes
  • Take a deep breath in through your nose while curling your toes gently up to the ceiling
  • Hold your breath for 1 … 2 … 3 … seconds. Then slowly breathe out and relax your toes
  • Repeat as many times as you wish

NB: To get more information on this technique see the first video of this page
