I have been offering online therapy for over a decade and have always advocated for its effectiveness and reliability as a means of delivering therapy.
When we get stressed our body may become tense. It can help to try a simple relaxation technique using our toes to release the tension. We can apply this technique when we feel stressed and we may repeat it as many times as we wish until we feel the tension leaving our body.
Over the next few days, as we all settle into our new routines, it’s possible some of us will feel we aren’t doing a “good enough” job. At times like these it is even more important to stay connected with oneself.
Worries and negative thoughts focusing on the future, overestimating danger and underestimating our personal ability to cope are components of anxiety. Similarly, negative thoughts related to loss and our (exaggerated) negative qualities are a component of depression. Learning how to keep such thoughts at bay will have an immediate effect on our mood and our behaviour.

It can help us each day to keep our perspective by cultivating gratitude, setting intentions, priming our brain with affirmations and finally, supporting growth through reflection. In the long-term it can help re-calibrate our mind, enhance our self-efficacy and enrich our life.
The following practical techniques can help us stay mentally well when the lock-down feels particularly challenging and will help us stay committed to our common goal of staying mentally well while doing what it takes to get the virus under control.
